The Fake Steve is more than a fake, he is a satirical homage to the real bumbling Family First Senator. He sustains a comedic narrative where Susan (Fielding’s wife) constantly bullies him and where he sycophantically follows Senator Nick Xenophon, who he always misspells as Xzennophone. A popular Twitter character he even gets to chat with the likes of press gallery journalist Laurie Oakes.
